(Brooklyn, NY - January 15, 2021) BCakeNY is proud to announce the release of three (3) Black History Month Gift Boxes and complimentary informational booklet. In honor of the unprecedented activism demonstrated in 2020, BCakeNY has profiled twelve (12) remarkable individuals who were trailblazers in their professional lives and used their platform to speak truth to power - in deeds and words.
“Each year we launch our Black History Month series with commemorative treats dedicated to the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.,” said Founder and Creative Director, Miriam Milord. “As a successful female, black owned business, we feel a responsibility to be an uplifting voice through verbal and tangible actions, especially since Covid-19 has wiped out nearly 50% of black businesses,” adding, “just existing is an act of financial activism.”
Each gift box ships nationally and includes four (4) commemorative cake jars in three flavor flights: Traditional, Seasonal and Boozy (for grown folks!). The Black History Month Collection, also includes commemorative cupcakes and cakes.
BCakeNY has partnered with historian Janus Adams and author of Glory Days: 365 Inspired Moments in African-American History to produce the informational booklet profiling the lives of the 12 extraordinary figures and the legacies who continue to fight for justice and equality today.
“People from all walks of life and an array of businesses showed their support for the civil rights of marginalized people last summer, It was the largest human rights movement in our generation,” recalled CEO, Dara Roach, daughter of artist/ activist Max Roach (also profiled in the booklet). “In honor of them we are focusing on historical figures who chose to advocate for equality, equity and civil rights in spite of the risks to their lives and livelihoods.”
